Article Posted 03-25-2025 03:15

The 7th overall draft pick in 2038, Jesper Rylander, has won the Aleksei Cherepanov Award in the KHL for being the best rookie of the 2039/40 season. Rylander put up 12 goals and 36 assists for a total of 48 points in 57 games played, continuing his success in the european leagues. Rylander, now 19 years old, is coming from excellent seasons with Rögle in the SHL, and is now making himself a name with the Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg in the KHL.

Looking Forward

This year in review

The Kraken would like to apologize to all 3 of our fans, for the pitiful on-ice showing that they have had to endure thus far this year. The team finished deadlast in the league, with a depressing 8068 average attendance record to boot, the only real solace I as the manager of the team can offer is that we finished with the 21st best penalty kill this year, while that number is uninspiring as all can be it is a sign of a brighter future, the blue line is younger then in years past, there is room to grow. The team was 3rd in the league for hits per game, which is another inspiring sign of things to come, our stud goalie prospect Chase Zdunich put up a .926 sv% with a 2.24 GAA, an improvement over last years excellent campaign.

The management team stresses patience in this stressful time, as the team was in shambles when we took over, having no real assets and no real direction, yes this years results are not where we want them to be, but it is a step in the right direction, with our hopeful first overall pick in this years draft, and the removal of additional bloat with the expansion draft we plan on being aggressive on both the trade market and the free agency market this coming offseason, currently no one on the roster is safe, we aim to turn the roster over to make for a more exciting hockey team come next season. That being said, we are not aiming for playoffs in the upcoming season, we just aim to increase our prospect pool and hopefully get more competitive to attract more fans into the building.

Senators Briefing

Deadline Update

Article Posted 03-02-2025 01:40

Senators Report: Coming into trade deadline with a record of 45-19-3 the Sens sit 4th in the Atlantic division and 6th in the league overall, a startling stat to anyone not in the Atlantic. A so-so start to the season had some fans worried but a 12-3 January and 8-3 February including a 10 game win streak and a current 6 gamer have seen the Sens rise up the standings, now comfortably in a playoff spot.

Big time performances have carried the Sens there, using their usual 2 way game and overall team play the Sens have seen big seasons from last year trade deadline pickup Yevgeny Mekhnin, who they signed in the offseason to a 4yrx8.99mil contract. Mekhnin is having a career year with 87 points in 67 games currently 4th leaguewide and waiver pickup goalie Naythan Caron whose numbers since joining the Sens are amazing. In the last two years (94 games) with the Sens, Caron is 63-21-7 with roughly a 2.5gaa, 918 sv% and a 24 gsaa. Its safe to say the net is his to lose at this point with anointed heir apparent Joel Lindholm taking a backseat while the Sens chase the Cup.

Newcomer Jesse Forsyth is struggling somewhat to begin his Sens career but signed for another season at 1.3mil the hope is the versatile forward can find some chemistry with young setup artist Oscar Huotari and veteran Peter Lindkvist to form a consistent 3rd line.

With only 400k in cap space and almost all contracts guaranteed for next season, management seems locked in with this group and look to be very quiet at this seasons trade deadline. They have to hope this play keeps up and the team can do better than the last two seasons of first round playoff exits.

**Follow-Up: Quebec Police Issue Warrant for Gustav Claughton After Loose Dog Investigation**

Article Posted 02-23-2025 18:55

QUEBEC CITY – The mystery behind the aggressive loose dog that bit multiple people, including Quebec Nordiques star T vor Sandrock, has taken a bizarre turn. Following an in-depth investigation, authorities have identified the dog's owner as none other than Gustav Claughton, the embattled general manager of the New Jersey Devils.

La Sûreté du Québec issued a warrant for Claughton’s arrest earlier this morning, citing reckless endangerment and failure to control a dangerous animal. However, when officers arrived to execute the warrant, Claughton was nowhere to be found. Instead, investigators uncovered an unsettling scene inside his office. Sources describe the walls as plastered with love notes, crude collages, and disturbingly detailed hand-drawn pictures of Claughton alongside former New Jersey Devils defenceman Nathan Abbott.

The nature of the materials raised immediate concerns, prompting authorities to issue a restraining and non-contact order between Claughton and Abbott. While the contents of the messages remain undisclosed, officials suggest they point to a troubling fixation that extends beyond standard hockey operations.

As for Claughton’s whereabouts, his current location remains unknown. The Quebec Nordiques and their legal team have assured fans that they are fully cooperating with authorities to ensure the safety of the community—and, perhaps just as importantly, the stability of professional hockey management.

New Jersey Devils Trade Star Defenseman Dmitry Mikhaltsev to Tampa Bay Lightning in Blockbuster Deal

In a stunning move ahead of the PSHL trade deadline, the New Jersey Devils have officially parted ways with star defenseman Dmitry Mikhaltsev, sending the 26-year-old two-way blueliner to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a package of future assets.

Article Posted 02-23-2025 13:23

Mikhaltsev, a premier shutdown defenseman with strong two-way capabilities, has been a pillar on the Devils’ blue line for years. However, with only one year remaining on his contract and a lucrative payday looming, New Jersey’s front office opted to make a proactive move, securing a strong return rather than risking losing him for nothing in free agency.

In return, the Devils have acquired a highly valuable 2040 first-round pick in what scouts are calling a deep and talented draft class. Additionally, they secured a 2042 second-round pick, giving them another future asset to help retool the roster.

The deal also marks a reunion, as New Jersey brings back 21-year-old winger Matthew Thunder. Originally drafted by the Devils in the second round, Thunder was later moved to Tampa, where he continued his development. The pure goal-scoring winger has shown flashes of offensive upside, tallying 4 goals and 10 assists in 57 games this season. While he projects as a middle-six forward at the NHL level, his finishing ability makes him an intriguing piece for New Jersey moving forward.

Rounding out the trade is 18-year-old Swedish prospect Daniel Svantesson. A former sixth-round pick, Svantesson has shown promise as a versatile winger with offensive instincts. He will add depth to the Devils’ prospect pool as he continues his development overseas.

For Tampa Bay, the acquisition of Mikhaltsev is a clear statement that the Lightning are in full win-now mode. Adding one of the best two-way defensemen in the league solidifies their blue line and boosts their Stanley Cup aspirations. If they can extend Mikhaltsev beyond next season, this move could pay dividends for years to come.

Meanwhile, the Devils continue to shape their future with key draft capital and young talent, ensuring they remain competitive in the years ahead. While losing Mikhaltsev is a tough pill to swallow, this deal may prove to be a strategic win for New Jersey in the long run.
